Pushing new industry standards with SAP HANA on IBM Power Systems
At IBM, we believe that collaboration is everything, which is why we are thrilled to announce that we were named SAP’s Infrastructure Partner of the Year. Our collaboration runs deep – IBM and SAP have been driving innovation together for more than 45 years and, together, our two companies are innovating with the goal of reducing total cost of ownership and improving efficiency for clients deploying SAP HANA.
This collaboration has enabled us to deliver a rapidly adopted new technology, demonstrated by the more than 1,400 clients that recognize the value of the collaboration and are deploying SAP HANA on the platform built and optimized for it.
We designed IBM Power Systems to be different and crush data-intensive workloads like HANA. Together, IBM and SAP offer clients choice and flexibility as well as performance. When clients run SAP HANA on Power Systems, they can focus on extracting insights from the data instead of spending time, resources and money managing dozens of small servers in a cluster. In March, SAP and Richemont joined us at Think2018 to share why they are excited about POWER9.
SAP supports our new POWER9-based H924 and H922 systems to run SAP HANA workloads. These systems offer a robust platform to run SAP HANA with support of up to 4TB for OLTP/S4H workloads on a 2-socket server.
Power Systems servers position our clients to scale up larger databases and to also take advantage of flexibility by using PowerVM virtualization along with the resiliency, simplified management and performance benefits on these POWER9-based systems for their SAP HANA environment.
