IBM has been recognized as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Solid-State Arrays (SSA) for the fifth year in a row.[1]

According to Gartner, “Vendors in the Leaders quadrant have the highest scores for their Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. A vendor in the Leaders quadrant has the market share, credibility, and marketing and sales capabilities needed to drive the acceptance of new technologies. These vendors demonstrate a clear understanding of market needs; they are innovators and thought leaders; and they have well-articulated plans that customers and prospects can use when designing their storage infrastructures and strategies. In addition, they have a presence in all four major geographical regions, consistent financial performance and broad platform support.”

We believe IBM’s ability to maintain its position as a leader has been a result of continuous improvements to IBM’s award-winning All-Flash Storage portfolio. The addition of enhanced 3D TLC flash to IBM FlashCore technology in 2017 is designed to allow customers to lower CAPEX and OPEX, drive systems and data center return on investment (ROI), and potentially increase storage density. IBM’s new hardware-accelerated inline data compression can help provide consistent data reduction performance for your applications, workloads, and use cases in today’s data driven multi-cloud enterprise. To help further lower costs, IBM has expanded its extensive data reduction technology set with deduplication capabilities for the IBM Storwize family. Deduplication delivers a dramatic reduction in your estimated storage costs of up to $3,400,000: OPEX reduction over $2.8 million and CAPEX reduction by as much as $600,000, over a three-year period.[2]

“IBM Storage continues to enhance our flash solutions to meet the needs of modern data driven, multi-cloud enterprise,” said Ed Walsh, General Manager, IBM Storage and Software Defined Infrastructure. “Our clients drive our responsibility to continually extend our innovative solutions — for example NVMe — that will provide increased business value our clients’ oceans of data.”

IBM has also recently announced enhancements to IBM DS8880F, a foundation for digital innovation. The new 7.68 TB flash card increases the overall system capacity to 5.8 PB in the same physical space, helping customers to manage their business data growth requirements while helping to reduce their overall total cost of ownership. Larger storage capacities allow the consolidation of multiple workloads including big data, media streaming, blockchain and machine learning under a single management point. DS8880F also supports containers and Transparent Cloud Tiering making it possible to migrate and restore not only data, but sensitive point of time copies of the data (flash copies) as well, offering an alternative for a fast disaster recovery solution without the need to incur additional infrastructure expenses.

IBM Storage continues to update and expand its storage solutions across its industry acclaimed portfolio and clients agree.
