The IT Work Capacity (ITWC) metric v1 calculates total server work capacity in a data center to comply with the European Energy Efficiency Directive requirements. This whitepaper provides a methodology to calculate the total work capacity (Cserv) of standard CPUs in a data center using the IT work capacity metric (PerfCPU). Later versions of the ITWC will incorporate work capacity for storage and networking equipment.

This White Paper includes:

  • An analysis of the error introduced by using PerfCPU values calculated using the physical core count trendline
  • Lookup tables of PerfCPU values by individual CPU SKUs where TGG had CPU SKU specific SERT measurements or obtained CPU SKU specific PerfCPU values for individual CPU SKUs
  • Lookup tables by core count (CPU manufacturer, technology generation) where the CPU SKU value was not available

A Searchable PerfCPU Tables by Manufacturer  (in support of WP #94) is included as an Excel file in the zip file along with the White Paper.
